The Association between the trunk and hip kinematic and knee abduction angle among preadolescent female soccer players during single-leg landing
Objectives: Children aged 10 to 12 years often show dangerous maneuvers during landing, which include increased knee valgus, placing them at higher risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. The study aimed to investigate the relation of the trunk and hip kinematics with the peak knee abduction angle during single-leg landing among preadolescent female soccer players. Methods: Thirty-s...
متن کاملPelvic obliquity and the unstable hip after poliomyelitis.
Of 400 patients with disabilities resulting from poliomyelitis, seen at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre between June 1976 and April 1978, 32 required surgical correction of abduction contracture on one side associated with severe pelvic obliquity of infrapelvic origin causing the opposite “high” hip to be unstable. Rather than directing treatment toward the unstable hip ...
متن کاملBilateral hip surgery in severe cerebral palsy a preliminary review.
When cerebral palsy involves the entire body pelvic asymmetry indicates that both hips are 'at risk'. We carried out a six-year retrospective clinical, radiological and functional study of 30 children (60 hips) with severe cerebral palsy involving the entire body to evaluate whether bilateral simultaneous combined soft-tissue and bony surgery of the hip could affect the range of movement, achie...
متن کاملA child that presents with an acute limp: Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease
A 6-year-old boy presented with the recent development of a right sided limp. He had no known medical conditions. On examination, the patient had limited internal/external rotation and abduction of the right hip. He walked with a non-antalgic gait and was noted to have a positive Trendelenberg sign. Lower extremity radiographs (A) revealed flattening of the right proximal femoral epiphysis with...
متن کاملStatic and dynamic gait parameters before and after multilevel soft tissue surgery in ambulating children with cerebral palsy.
BACKGROUND Recent studies have questioned the efficacy of releasing hip flexion contractures and the resulting ankle position after tendoachilles lengthening in ambulating children with cerebral palsy (CP). METHODS Twenty-three ambulatory children with CP underwent 96 soft tissue-lengthening procedures without bony surgery. Preoperative and postoperative clinical and computerized gait data we...
